The Power of Superior Technology

Environmental Advantages

Lowest Level of CO2 Emissions in its Class

The V2500Select Engine provides the lowest levels of CO2 emissions. This directly translates to significant operating cost advantages with carbon trading and provides the lowest levels of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in its thrust class.

  • The EU is enforcing CO2 based emissions trading for aviation starting in 2011 (intra-Europe) & 2012 when it would cover all flights to and from non-EU countries, worldwide acceptance and implementation is anticipated in the near term.
  • The fuel burn advantage of a V2500 powered aircraft directly results in savings of up to 1345 metric tonnes of CO2 production per aircraft per year.
  • When traded at $30 per metric tonne, this equates to more than $40,000 per aircraft per year at a rate of between $10-14 per Aircraft Flight hour.

The V2500 is overall environmental leader.

Lowest Total Emissions

The V2500, with its balanced emissions design approach, produces the lowest total combined emissions levels of NOx, CO and UHC in its class and meets all applicable emissions regulations with significant margin. The V2500 Select engine will meet future CAEP6 limits for NOx emissions

Quietest A319, A320 and A321 Engine

The V2500's advanced propulsion system features a full-length nacelle that allows for extensive sound absorbing treatment and a mixed flow nozzle that significantly reduces exhaust air jet velocity. The result is lower noise levels than its competition - with more margin to Stage 4 noise limits for all A319, A320 and A321 aircraft.
